Manager, Credit Accounting

Job Description:

Overview: The Manager, Credit Accounting partners with the Conn's team to perform accounting duties including, but not limited to: (i) reviewing monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, analytics, and other close-related items; (ii) ensuring that the existing accounting processes and policies are carried out as intended; (iii) supporting future systems implementation, (iv) driving process improvements by identifying inefficiencies and proposing viable solutions; and (v) leading or participating in other projects as identified. This role will be responsible for supervising/mentoring other staff and senior accountants. This position reports to the VP of Credit Accounting.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee reconciliation of basic and complex general ledger accounts, including research and resolution of discrepancies
Prepare and review daily/monthly journal entries and supporting schedules
Lead a team of accounting professionals by providing clarity of vision and expectations, role modeling effective coaching and performance feedback, prioritizing resources, and facilitating alignment of the team and partners.
Identify systemic or isolated loan servicing variances and develop timely resolution plans
Initiate process improvements to implement new procedures to enhance the workflow of the department and improve accuracy of financial accounts
Support the financial reporting team as needed for preparation of the Form 10-Q, 10-K and other filings as necessary
Prepare and manage requests from internal and external auditors
Proactively coordinate with other department managers and key vendors to improve efficiencies, support overall goals and objectives
Participate in system development and maintenance projects as needed
Cultivate employee engagement and positive employee relations environment through robust and regular employee communications
Develop and execute a strong talent management plan including talent assessment, selection, empowerment, coaching, motivation and retention of top talent; builds and develops succession plans and pipeline of talent

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting, CPA preferred
Minimum 5 years' experience with 3 years in Accounting and a minimum of 1 years in a supervisory or management role
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills, with strong personal computer and business solutions software skills is required; knowledge in SQL a plus

Preferred Experience
Experience with loan servicing systems is strongly preferred (Shaw or Fiserv products direct experience is a plus)
Experience with ERP ledger systems is preferred (Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JDE, etc)
Data query and data analytics experience is preferred
Big 4 experience is a plus
