SUMMARY
Directs and coordinates activities of staff members engaged in
patient billing services and maintains billing and documentation
standards as set forth by regulatory agencies and requirements of
by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Stay abreast of state and federal regulations regarding ambulance
billing.
Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, including federal,
state, and local statutes for all billing and reporting
activities.
Ensure all staff members have data, equipment, and required tools
to complete their assigned tasks.
Maximize office productivity through proficient use of appropriate
software applications.
Manage the billing process, close billing ledgers, and submit
monthly reports by the deadline set forth by the CFO.
Oversee write-offs and adjustments.
Manage collections, accounts receivable aging, denials, credit
balances, and refunds.
Review, sign, and ensure all lien paperwork is filed with the
county clerk.
Perform administrator functions for billing software.
Provide education to EMS, Clinical, and Alarm staff to ensure
complete and accurate patient and billing record documentation.
Exercise initiative, judgement, and make decisions within the scope
of assigned authority.
Demonstrate professional and courteous customer service skills in
all interactions.
Create, maintain, and manage to department budget.
Develop staff through training, education, and timely feedback for
ongoing performance management and employee growth.
Create, implement, and hold staff accountable to department and
organization policies and procedures.
Identify, track, analyze, create and report action plans for
departmental quality metrics and risk mitigation.
Establish and model a service oriented culture that supports the
organizational values.
Other duties that are deemed necessary.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include training employees and directing work;
appraising performance; rewarding, re-educating, addressing
complaints and resolving problems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in a business-related field preferred.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Five or more years related experience.
Two or more years of related management experience preferred.
Certified Ambulance Coder Certification (CAC) to be obtained within
six months of hire through the National Academy of Ambulance
Compliance (NAAC).
SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in word processing, database, spreadsheet skills and
billing software required. Basic email and internet skills
required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS**
Maintain a current status for Certified Ambulance Coder
Certification (CAC); Certified Ambulance Compliance Officer (CACO);
and Certified Ambulance Privacy Officer (CAPO).
Maintain current Texas Drivers License.
Remain insurable by the current insurance vendor of MCHD.
CPR Certification
Required NIMS Training as referenced in the Safety & Emergency
Management Policy SEM 27-201
