Job Description:
Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost
provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s
two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for
North American natural gas and support the long-term development of
clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable,
proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration,
Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace
traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and
operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost. We are
seeking qualified applicants for the position of Project Engineer,
Production Measurement located in Houston, TX. General Description:
The Project Engineer, Production Measurement reports to the Staff
Engineer and leads the safe, efficient and effective execution of
all measurement systems work at Venture Global with as needed
travel to support the Venture Global LNG sites. This role provides
leadership in measurement design, instrumentation and electrical
coordination, pipeline SCADA integration, and advanced
troubleshooting of measurement and line balance issues. The
position requires deep technical expertise, strong judgment, and
the ability to lead complex projects and mentor other engineers
while working closely with operations, controls, and leadership
teams. Responsibilities: Serve as a subject matter expert for
gasmeasurement systems across pipeline and facility assets. Lead
the design, review, and approval of measurement systemsin
accordance with API MPMS, AGA, GPA, and company standards.
Establish and enforce measurement best practices, design standards,
and governance. Provide technical oversight for meterselection,
sizing, configuration, diagnostics, and commissioning. Review and
approve measurement calculations, uncertainty analyses, and audit
support materials. Lead the analysis and resolution of complex
pipeline line balance, mass balance, and inventory discrepancies.
Diagnose systemic measurement issues involving instrumentation,
SCADA configuration, timing, communications, and data integrity.
Develop and refine balance methodologies, KPIs, and monitoring
tools used across the organization. Partner with operations and
control rooms to resolve real-time and historical imbalance events.
Providetechnical guidance on LAUF, packing effects, and transient
operating conditions. Provide technical direction for
instrumentation and electrical aspects of measurement systems.
Review and approve instrument specifications, loop diagrams, wiring
diagrams, panel designs, and hazardous area classifications. Ensure
proper grounding, power quality, and electrical reliability for
critical measurement assets. Support commissioning, calibration
strategies, and long-term maintenance philosophies. Act as a
technical escalation point for complex I&E-related measurement
issues. Provide technical leadership for integration of measurement
systems with pipeline SCADA, RTUs, PLCs, and flow computers.
Oversee measurement data configuration, validation, reconciliation,
and historian interfaces. Lead troubleshooting of SCADA-related
measurement and balance issues, including time sync, data latency,
and communications failures. Collaborate with controls, IT, and
cybersecurity teams to ensure data reliability and integrity.
Expertknowledge of Flow Cal or related software and the interfaces
required. Participate in the design of the SCADA system
tofacilitate live line balance, measurement troubleshooting, and
measurement fidelity. Lead high-impact measurement, SCADA, and
I&E projects from concept through commissioning. Define project
scope, technical strategy, schedules, and budgets. Provide
technical direction to internal teams, contractors, and vendors.
Review FAT/SAT plans, commissioning strategies, and turnover
documentation. Support capital planning and long-range measurement
roadmaps. Mentor and technically develop junior and mid-level
measurement engineers. Serve as a technical reviewer and approver
for measurement deliverables. Support training, knowledge transfer,
and documentation initiativesto the 24/7 SCADA staff in place in
the Houston Pipeline Control Center. This should include basic
troubleshooting for measurement issues. Act as a trusted technical
advisor to operations, engineering management, and leadership. Own
andmaintain measurement standards, specifications, and technical
guidelines. Lead measurementchange management and governance
processes. Drive continuous improvement in accuracy, reliability,
safety, and balance performance. Support regulatory, commercial,
and internal audits as a technical authority. Qualifications:
Education and Certifications Bachelor’s degree in
Engineering(Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical, or
related discipline). 10 years of experience in pipeline or facility
measurement engineering. Experience: Proven experience serving as a
technical lead or subject matter expert. Extensive experience
troubleshooting line balance, mass balance, and SCADA-related
measurement issues. Experience in LNG, gas transmission, or
large-scale pipeline systems. Experience supporting regulatory,
commercial, and internal measurement audits. Familiarity with
transient pipeline operations and advanced balance methodologies.
Experience developing organizational standards and technical
governance. Experience with flow computer configuration,
programming, and troubleshooting Experience with ABBFlowX preferred
Skills: Strong background in instrumentation and electrical systems
supporting measurement. Deep working knowledge of pipeline SCADA,
flow computers, and data historians. Demonstrated experience
leading complex, multi-disciplinary projects. Able to work after
hours to solve problems as they arise. Knowledge ofmodbus TCP,
RS-485, RS-232 and other protocols needed for configuration and
testing of communication with other devices . Knowledge of leak
detection for pipeline systems. Confidence to act independently to
solve problems. The ideal candidate will be able to provide
hands-on troubleshooting and commissioningassistance. Recognized
technical authority with strong engineering judgment. Excellent
analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills. Clear, confident
communicator with technical and non-technical audiences.
Comfortable making decisions and providing technical direction.
