DescriptionPosition Summary:The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for the overall delivery of care to patients and oversight of the House Supervisors and oversight of the clinical milieu .Will direct all nursing service activities for the facility to include recommendations for staff/patient ratios, maintaining a system to determine and provide adequate staff for the provision of nursing care, serves as a liaison between nursing staff and administration.   • MSN in psychiatric, mental health nursing or its equivalent, or must be qualified by combination of education and experience in Behavioral Health.
  • Registered Nurse licensure through Texas State Board of Nursing or Nursing Compact Licensure required.(unencumbered)
  • BLS (CPR) certification is required through AHA or American Red Cross (which will include the BLS demonstration (not online course only) required.
  • CPI Certification (Crisis Management) which will be provided by employer before starting work required
  • ACLS certification required.
  • Must be able to speak, write, and communicate effectively in English required.Experience: -Minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience in the care of behavioral health patients is required and three years of experience in nursing management preferred.Primary Responsibilities (not all inclusive)
    • -Directs all nursing service activities.
    • -Maintains system to determine & provide adequate staffing for provision of appropriate nursing service activities.
    • Promotes and monitors productivity of staff.
    • Implements policies and procedures for nursing service in compliance with Voyages guidelines, Texas Mental Hospital standards, CMS, and TJC accreditation.
    • Leads the Nurse Advisor Committee.
    • Acts as a liaison between other Voyages departments and hospitals. Reviews and monitors compliance with contracts for patient care services, (e.g., nursing agencies and HBOT) and assures current licensure and competency of staff to include contract staff.
    • Performs the duties for pre-employment for Employee Health
    • Teaches Infection Control/EE Health in New Hire Orientation
