Registered Nurse (RN) - Rapid Response
HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe is a tertiary acute care 342 bed
hospital that has been serving the community for more than 75
years. It provides a 24-hour designated Level II trauma center,
Level III neonatal intensive care unit, cardiac care services,
women's center, daVinci robotic surgery, neurosciences, pediatric
care, rehabilitation therapy, sleep center, radiology, hyperbaric
medicine, diagnostic/imaging services, and wound care facility.
HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe is affiliated with HCA Houston
Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The
division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient
surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging
facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas.
Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13
off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.
What you will do in this role:
Rapid Responders are collaborative members of the health care team
who deliver nursing and collaborative medical aspects of care to
specific populations within the scope of care delineated by the
licensing board, and professional standards of care. Rapid
Responders collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners and
interdisciplinary team members to review the plan of care,
intervene when necessary to ensure adequate delivery of quality,
cost-effective care and maintain continuity of care through
appropriate referral and follow-up.
The responsibilities of the Rapid Responder will include but are
NOT limited to the following:
Responds to all RRTs (Rapid Response calls), Code Blue, and Code
Neuro.
Communicates daily with each charge nurse to identify high risk
patients
Round on all nursing units every two hours to address MEWS scores
and address questions and/or concerns of staff.
Assesses all "at risk" patients as identified by MEWS score
increases
Monitors surgery schedule and rounds on any "at risk" post op
patients
Facilitates debriefings of post codes
Facilitate StaRN learning and serve as resource
Enters RRT data and creates monthly reports using excel, reports
data to appropriate committees
Completes 24 hours post RRT/Code Blue follow up and
documentation.
Leads and facilitates RRT/Code Blue Committee
Refers patient complaints to appropriate Unit
Managers/Directors.
Utilizes chain of command to ensure appropriate action is taken
Facilitates a staff satisfaction feedback system for RRT
Qualifications
What qualifications you will need:
Bachelor's Degree (or in a Bachelor's Program to be completed in 2
years)
Minimum of 2 years professional nursing experience in Intensive
Care.
Licensed by the State of Texas as a registered nurse
ACLS, BCLS, NIH Stroke Scale Certification, CNRN or equivalent
certification
PALS and CCRN required immediately, required after six months
completion in position
