Job Description:
Psychiatric Nursing AssistantTri-County Behavioral Healthcare is
looking for a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant (PNA) to join our
Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) team. The ideal candidate will
exercise empathy and compassion as well as perform in a manner
representative of the mission and ideals of Tri-County Behavioral
Healthcare in all interactions with others.What you will do:
- Initiating patient care
- Educate patients about the rules of the CSU as needed
- Complete rounds and monitor for safety at required intervals
and complete documentation concurrently.
- Record and maintain records of patient condition and activity,
including vital signs, eating habits, and behavior and report
unusual behavior or physical ailments to medical staff.
- Perform searches of patients for contraband at admission.
- Assisting with ADLs as indicated
- Clean and disinfect rooms and furnishings to maintain a safe
and orderly environment at scheduled times.
- Develop and teach strategies to promote client wellness and
independence.
- Engage patients in recreational activities/group
activities
- Safely de-escalate patients that are in crisis using learned
SAMA techniques
- Travel as necessary. Some travel required includes picking up
meal trays for patients, providing patient transportation to
medical facilities
**The following shifts are available, working one 36-hour week and
a 48-hour week the next (8 hours of paid overtime):
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday from 7AM -
7PM

7AM
Thursday, Friday, Saturday and every other Wednesday from 7AM - 7
PM

- High School diploma or GED required;
- One year in mental health field preferred.
- Applicant will need to pass physical agility, computer
literacy, and typing tests.
- Competent computer skills and ability to navigate in an
electronic health record and other technology-based platforms;
- Ability to pass Computer competency, Outlook and Typing test
(30wpm)
- Ability to lift 45 lbs and pass physical agility exam

Section 250.001, Local Government Code. Offenses that are not an
absolute bar to employment but may be considered a contraindication
will also be considered during the pre-employment process.
Tri-County will also complete a driver's license check. All

prior to hire and monthly through the Texas Health and Human
Services Commission Office of the Inspector General (OIG) List of
Excluded Individuals. All applicants are required to successfully
complete a drug screening and a physical agility test prior to new
