This role is ideal for RNs who value flexibility and autonomy while maintaining a high standard of surgical patient care. As a per diem OR nurse, you will provide skilled nursing care in a variety of surgical specialties, working alongside surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical techs in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver safe, high-quality, and evidence-based nursing care to surgical patients
  • Act as a circulating and/or scrub nurse in various surgical procedures (e.g., general, orthopedic, neuro, ENT, cardiac, OB/GYN)
  • Prepare the operating room with necessary supplies, equipment, and instruments
  • Ensure proper patient identification, consent verification, and site marking before surgery
  • Monitor the patient's physical and emotional status before, during, and after surgery
  • Maintain strict adherence to aseptic and sterile technique protocols
  • Communicate effectively with the surgical team to anticipate needs and respond to complications
  • Document all perioperative nursing care accurately and in real-time using the EHR
  • Follow infection control standards and facility policies at all times
  • Respond to emergency situations calmly and efficientlyRequired Qualifications:
    • Active RN license in the state of TX
    • Minimum of 1-2 years of recent perioperative (OR) experience required
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
    • Ability to work at least [minimum number of shifts] per month including one weekend or holiday as neededCore Competencies:

          Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
          
          Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR)
