Methodist, a nationally recognized, award-winning healthcare
organization, is seeking a skilled Gastroenterologist with
preferred specialization in Neurogastroenterology and/or motility
disorders, to join its dynamic team at the Texas Medical Center.
This position provides a unique opportunity to work with the 1
Hospital System in TX (recognized by U.S. News & World Report)
providing high-quality patient care while engaging in clinical
research and education. This position offers an exceptional
opportunity to further develop these areas of gastroenterology and
clinical research within the Josephine Hughes Sterling Program in
Neurogastroenterology: - Full service esophageal and GI motility
lab providing the complete range of motility, reflux and related
testing. - Dedicated GI dietitian. - Dedicated Gastro-psychologist.
- Close collaborations with cognate fields such as Neurology and
Neurosciences, Urogynecology, Physical Therapy (providing
biofeedback and management of pelvic disorders) and imaging
(including dynamic MRI). - Expert foregut, thoracic, and colorectal
surgical services performing leading edge minimally invasive and
robotic surgeries. - Comprehensive advanced endoscopy team
performing procedures such as POEM and G-POEM. - Access, within the
Underwood Center, to clinical research support including a
dedicated data analyst and, within the Research Institute, to
advanced data analytics. - For a suitably qualified candidate,
potential for appointment to an endowed Chair. Key
Responsibilities: - Provide expert clinical care in
neurogastroenterology and motility disorders, including the
diagnosis, management, and treatment of gastrointestinal motility
and functional disorders (DGBI). - Conduct diagnostic evaluations
and therapeutic interventions in motility disorders - Interpret
advanced diagnostic tools for motility, including esophageal and
anorectal manometry, and workup for conditions like achalasia,
gastroparesis, and IBS. - Develop and implement individualized
treatment plans for motility-related conditions, incorporating
pharmacologic therapy, dietary modifications, behavioral
interventions, as well as endoscopic and surgical procedures. -
Provide expert consultation for patients with complex functional GI
disorders, including but not limited to dysphagia, constipation,
and reflux disorders, integrating neurogastroenterology approaches
in patient management. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
to manage patient care, contributing to innovative treatment plans
and ongoing clinical trials. - Participate in education and
mentorship of medical students, internal medicine residents,
fellows, and other healthcare professionals. - Engage in, and
contribute to, the development of research initiatives in
gastroenterology. - Maintain comprehensive and accurate patient
records. - Contribute to the growth and development of the
gastroenterology division within Houston Methodist and the
Underwood center across Greater Houston. Qualifications: - Medical
degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution. - Board
certification in Gastroenterology. - Strong clinical, diagnostic,
and procedural skills. - Proven ability to work effectively in a
team-oriented, collaborative environment. - Excellent communication
and interpersonal skills. - Commitment to academic excellence,
