JOB STATUS: CLOSING DATE: 09/21/2022 04:00 PMTITLE: Coordinator of PayrollJOB DESCRIPTION:Accurate preparation and coordination of payrolls, federal tax information and Teacher Retirement System data. Coordinate the preparation and release of payroll checks to all district employees. Maintain accurate records and knowledge of payroll computer programs to improve efficiency. Assist with the operational and personnel activities of the payroll department. Coordinate and manage salary calculations for new hires, position changes, and separations from employment.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:* Manage controls over employee salary changes, leave balances, benefit deductions and other employee payroll data as required.* Coordinate and manage information for each payroll cycle, including supervision of Payroll Specialists to ensure accurate and timely processing.* Prepare and file periodic reports to the Teacher Retirement System and the Internal Revenue Service.* Responsible for ensuring direct deposit tape has been processed accurately.* Coordinate payroll computer needs by reporting problems to the Technology Department and by identifying and recommending improvements to the Director of Payroll.* Provide payroll training to District staff.* Work cooperatively with the Human Resources Department to ensure accuracy of wages, salary and stipends.* Develop annual payroll schedule to ensure internal processes meet established deadlines.* Maintain and update manuals.* Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the Director of Payroll.* Regular attendance.* Maintain confidentiality.EXPERIENCE:* Three years of experience and working knowledge in the day-to-day operation of a computerized payroll system, including data interpretation and reconciliation* Experience in computerized payroll processing, complex salary calculations and timekeeping systemsQUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:* Bachelor's degreeSpecial Knowledge/Skills:* Ability to exercise judgment and in decision making* Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills* Ability to effectively interact with administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, support and auxiliary personnel, and general public* Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data* Analytical and problem solving skills* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel* Ability to learn timekeeping and other computer software programs as required* Basic knowledge of report writing* Ability to plan and coordinate work in order to meet strict payroll deadlines* Basic knowledge of Federal Tax regulationsJob Type: Full-timePay: From $75,464.00 per yearBenefits:* Dental insurance* Disability insurance* Employee assistance program* Flexible spending account* Health insurance* Life insurance* Retirement plan* Vision insurancePhysical setting:* OfficeSchedule:* Monday to FridayEducation:* Bachelor's (Required)Experience:* payroll: 3 years (Required)Work Location: One location
