Responsibilities


Classification: Exempt, Non-BargainingThe Business Attorney is responsible for supporting general business matters at the Company, including reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and assisting with general corporate and transactional matters. This position will work closely with other members of the Legal Department and various business teams and organizations within Consolidated Communications, including, without limitation, the Contract Management department and Commercial Sales team. Performs job duties consistent within safety, legal, and regulatory requirements, company standards and business practices. Acts with the highest level of business and personal ethical standards in all aspects of job performance.
Qualifications

• Strong organizational and project management skills and an ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple tasks and work independently is required.
• Attention to detail and effective negotiation skills.
• Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with business owners from a variety of organizations, as well as with vendors, outside counsel and other external contacts.
• Proficiency with PC applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Familiarity and proficiency with database applications and document management systems.
• Excellent spelling, grammar, editing and proofing skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• Ability to cross think and determine who should be kept informed.
• Ability to manage heavy workload in a high-pressure environment.
• Willingness to accept responsibility for assignments.
• Diligent, curious, self-starter with good business sense, honesty and fairness.
• Collaborative, cool under pressure, self-confident and inspires confidence from clients.
• Knows when to ask for help and seek assistance and ideas from others. This position must act with the highest level of business and personal ethical standards in all aspects of job performance.Education & Experience:
  • This position will be located in Conroe, Texas.
  • Must have a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Law license required.
  • Commercial contract and litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Telecommunications experience preferred, but not required. Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in private practice or as an in-house attorney.
