Overview
The Intern Modeler within the Credit Team will use in-depth knowledge in quantitative analytics to develop predictive models for new originations, delinquency and loss (charge off), marketing and others. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, researching, designing, developing, and implementing solutions using statistical methodologies and application of business rules. Additionally, this position will help the organization drive revenue and reduce loss rates through effective management of credit risk as well as support executive leadership with in-depth analysis and reporting on various projects and strategic initiatives.

The role necessitates the candidate to have sound knowledge in mathematics especially statistics and programming. This includes experience in using various tools and techniques in the field of Analytics such as logistic regression, linear or non-linear regression, machine learning, segmentation analysis or Experimental test design.

The candidate should be able to apply statistical principles and procedures as well as analytical techniques to create highly accurate mathematical models in collaboration with the management team that will enhance strategy, forecasting and support the business goals.

Job Responsibilities:
Business Modeling & Analysis
Execute analytical and model development projects from solution design and data integrity evaluation through development, implementation and documentation.
Perform sound model development methods to produce reliable and stable models.
Process, cleanse, and standardize data from multiple sources. Perform quality control on data by analyzing patterns and data discrepancies.
Strong attention to detail to ensure data is extracted accurately and within context ensuring trends that align with the goals.
Be responsible for identifying and utilizing best practices of data analysis to ensure accurate results.
Perform analyses to identify trend and relationships in data, interpret results and provide recommendations to support business objectives and solve business problems.
Contribute to analytic solutions that will support the generation of sustainable revenue.
Conduct R&D with the aim of creating analytics solutions, evaluating new products and data assets and the enhancement of current processes.
Collaborate with Manager to ensure clear identification of goals and target audience.
Ability to work independently or with minimal guidance to identify and escalate issues and support issue resolution.
Support the development of implementation plans and participate in audits to support the implementation of statistical models and other decision tools.
Take personal responsibility to ensure that you adhere to all regulatory requirements and apply appropriate controls in the interest of the company.

Requirements:
Degree in relevant fields, including Statistics, Data Science, Analytics, and Applied Mathematics with strong mathematical, statistical, analytical and computational skills.
Knowledge and experience in financial or retail industry with an understanding of credit risk.
Experience with complex statistical and advanced analytical techniques such as logistic, linear or non-linear regression, machine learning, survival analysis, clustering, optimization, time-series forecasting and Experimental test design.
Background and sound knowledge in data mining, data analysis and data visualization.
3+ years of hands on experience using SQL, SAS or Python and writing code to extract, clean, manipulate, transfer data, create variables and explore patterns and relationships.
Sound analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge and experience with reporting packages (Excel, Tableau etc.) and Advanced proficiency in Excel.
Ability to communicate with different audiences (other technical staff, senior management and regulators) with good presentation skills both verbally and in writing.
Ability to think at tactical and strategic levels with quantitative expertise to form a deep understanding of what drives performance and why.
Demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects simultaneously through multitasking and prioritization.
Strong organizational skills and high level of personal accountability.
Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use data to inform all decisions.
Perpetual interest in learning something new, a passion for problem-solving, comfort with ambiguity, and creativity.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
