Job Purpose: Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repairs and retrofitting on industrial machinery and heavy equipment; performs maintenance and follows safety lock out/tag out procedures in the shop. The required skills include, but are not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic machine operations. Council machine operators on the how to use and maintain the machine they operate. The goal is to maintain all production equipment, minimize machine downtime, and maximize productivity and product quality. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems. Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery. Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs. Examine parts for defects, such as breakage and excessive wear. Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs. Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs. Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment. Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment. Study blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery. Record parts and materials used, and order new parts and materials as necessary. Record repairs and maintenance performed. Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with state and federal law, Company Quality Program and procedures, Company policies and Safety and Environmental Regulations. May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Required Skills/Abilities: Must be able to use hand tools. Must be able to assemble and disassemble equipment, such as engines, pumps, transmissions. Must have basic knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics. Must be able to operate forklift and overhead crane. Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events. Knowledge of PLC is a plus. Manufacturing background is a plus. Bilingual is highly preferred (English and Spanish). Education and Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Mechanic experience in an Industrial, Manufacturing or Construction setting. Essential Physical Requirements: Regularly lift, carry, pull and push 50 lbs. unassisted. Regularly squat, stoop, bend at waist, turn at waist to complete function above. Requires regular climbing. Required Work Hours and Schedules: Monday through Friday 6 PM --- 6 AM Occasional overtime and weekends may be required, beyond scheduled hours.
